Run for the Reef 8 Miles Race and 2 Miles Run/Walk
Every year during the first week of March, Belize celebrates Reef Week. This year, Reef Week will be celebrated under the theme: Unite in the Coral Reef Fight: Learn, Teach & Do What’s Right. In commemoration of Reef Week, a Run for the Reef will be hosted in Belize City on March 9th.

START / FINISH LOCATION:
- Memorial Park, Belize City
8 MILES RACE ROUTE:
- Start at Memorial Park,
- Continue on Marine Parade
- Unto Princess Margaret Drive
- Pass Btl Park, pass Marion Jones,
- Turn Right on University Drive (going into West Landivar)
- Turn left on Chancellor Ave (the second street)
- Turn left on Blue Marlin Ave (by Healthcare Partners)
- Turn Right on Durgeon Dr (by Abraham)
- Continue all the way to the end
- Turn Left on Seashore Drive
- Turn left on Independence Drive (end of pavement)
- Go all the way to the end where it meets Phillip Goldson Highway
- U Turn at the intersection with the Phillip Goldson Highway
- Come back the same way.
- End at Memorial Park
2 MILE RUN/WALK ROUTE:
- Start at Memorial Park
- Continue on Marine Parade
- Unto Princess Margaret Drive
- To the end of Princess Hotel Fence
- Make a U-turn
- Come back the same way
- Finish at Memorial Park
TERRAIN:
- Paved and concrete roads

REGISTRATION:
- Registration: CLOSED
- Registration will only be done online
- No late registrations
- No registration on day of the event
- Deadline is Wednesday.
After registration is closed, there will be no modifications, transfers, or swaps. Any person who show up taking the position of a runner who didn’t show up will be an automatic disqualification.
CHECK-IN / PACKET PICKUP:
Check-In and packet pickup will be done before the event. Your race bib and timing chip will be included.
TIMING:
Each runner’s time is important to them and to us as well, hence, to accurately measure runners’ times, we’ll using ProChip Timers. Timing method will be gunshot whereby all participants receive the same start time. Your time will be stopped when you cross the sensor at the finish line.
START LINE:
- Runners will line on the street behind the stage at Memorial Park
HYDRATION:
There will be 3 hydration stations at every 2 miles
- At Marion Jones (also serves for the return)
- At the U-turn location
FINISH AREA:
- Runners must return the timing chip immediately after finishing the race, a sign will let you know where to drop off your chip, indicate to the volunteer nearby that you are doing so.
AWARD CEREMONY:
- Short ceremony will be held to award plaques and medals.
